Scholarships for everyone
Every guide below was built from the official government portals and checked on 10 August 2026. Each one lists the schemes you can apply for at your level, who is eligible, what you get, the deadline, and the exact steps to apply. Dates change every year — always confirm on the official link inside the guide before you apply.
HSLC — Class 9 and 10
NMMS, the pre-matric disability scheme, Beedi and mine worker schemes, and Assam's own pre-matric schemes. Most close 31 August. Download the HSLC guide (PDF)
AHSEC — Class 11 and 12
PM-USP CSSS for the top 20% of your stream, the Anundoram Borooah Award, NEC Merit, and the post-matric welfare schemes. Download the AHSEC guide (PDF)
Undergraduate — BSc and FYUGP
INSPIRE-SHE for science students, Ishan Uday for the North East, PM-USP CSSS, and the SC / ST / OBC category schemes. Download the UG guide (PDF)
Postgraduate — MSc
Rank-holder and continuing schemes for Master's students — and why clearing CSIR-NET in your final year is worth more than all of them. Download the PG guide (PDF)
PhD and research
CSIR-NET JRF, DHR-BRET, DBT-BET, GATE XL, ICAR JRF, INSPIRE and PMRF. These are exams to plan for, not forms to fill. Download the PhD guide (PDF)
Study abroad
Fully funded Master's and PhD routes — Fulbright-Nehru, Chevening, Commonwealth, DAAD, Erasmus Mundus, Inlaks, JN Tata and MEXT — and why you need to start a year earlier than you think. Download the study abroad guide (PDF)
Nobody should ever charge you to apply for a government scholarship. Through a Common Service Centre the fee is fixed at Rs 30 for the whole process. Anyone asking for more, or promising to guarantee you a scholarship, is a scam.
